Acute care is plannable care
Probably for no other conditions have all possible combinations – of prevalence, incidence, diagnosis and treatment – been more thoroughly researched and reported on than stroke and heart attack.
Plannable care in the elective and acute situation
In 2004, as part of the Dutch government’s ‘Better Faster’ program, Peter Bakker of the logistics multinational TNT was asked by the Minister of Health to apply TNT’s logistical expertise to screen the curative health sector in the Netherlands. Mr Bakker’s conclusion was that implementing major logistical changes would result in considerable immediate improvements in the quality of care. Thromboclinics fully agrees with this conclusion, not only in the context of elective treatment, but also for acute care such as heart attack and stroke. If, in its mailing activities, TNT can plan both urgent shipments and regular mail, then surely the same sort of flexibility should be possible in the cardiovascular and neurovascular care sectors.
Evidence-based and optimal logistics
Thromboclinics offers the best possible care for the acute treatment of heart attack and stroke. The best possible care is by definition quantifiable, and consists of the best evidence-based treatment deliverable within an optimal logistical framework.
